Frequently asked Questions

How can i best prepare my Home for The shoot?

  • …the more authentic your home feels to you, the better! The focus of these kinds of shoots is to capture your genuine family dynamic, and the raw realness of this incredible new chapter. If you’d like to include pieces or mementos that have sentimental value, I’d be more than happy to include them in your photos.

What can i expect on the day of?

  • … you will receive a confirmation text the morning of, ensuring everything is good to go and still on schedule (with a new baby, I understand anything can happen and last minute changes might affect our shoot.)

After my arrival, we’ll go by your schedule as everyone gets settled. I’ll adjust the lighting to the needs of the shoot by opening blinds or curtains, for example, and we will ease into the shoot. These session normally take about 90 minutes, making for an easy breezy session that allows time for feedings, changes or wardrobe swaps.

The most important thing to remember is that your family, your baby, your natural, post-partum self are the stars of the show. You don’t need new outfits, a glam team or a Pinterest perfect setting. All you need to do is show up as yourselves, emotions and personalities free to just be.

Speaking of wardrobe…

When considering your options for the big day, color is an important element to keep in mind. The easiest way to approach this is to take a look around your home- art, decorations, and furniture provide the background for the story of your family’s new milestone. Do you have neutral colors, or bright, bold ones? When the outfits reflect the style and brightness of your interior design, it creates a cohesive look in your photos.

-Remember to choose pieces that allow you to comfortably sit on the ground, lay in bed, and feed your baby.

-If you have other children, it’s best to aim for something that matches your level of casualness, or dressiness, and will allow them to jump, wiggle, move about and be comfortable as they naturally would any other day.

-Solid colors that aren’t too bold, dark or deep work best, although simple patterns, like stripes or florals are also good options.

-Dress yourself first, and then coordinate the family look to your aesthetic.

Going along with the theme of authenticity, I highly encourage you to wear whatever feels most comfortable for you. It’s important that you feel beautiful, relaxed, and comfortably able to hold your baby, sit, or move around as you naturally would.

On a final note, it helps to have a backup outfit picked out, as accidents (spit ups) happen!
